Liquid Collector

Liquid Collector  are used to collect liquid from upper bed for redistribution or draw off as side-product or pump around. They are designed to give low-pressure drop and collect all the upper bed liquid. It's very important to mix all the liquid and provide a uniform composition for redistribution. Collection trays are installed below the support grid in order to collect the liquid running off the packing.

Several types of collection trays were developed according to the requirements of application and material:

• Chinese hat
• Vane-type collector
• Chimney collection tray

Usually, the liquid is led from the collection tray into a circumferential collection trough or in a draw-off pocket. The collection tray can also be used as an internal pump tank. In this case, the liquid remains at the bottom of the column during shut down of the column. The tank volume depends on the height of the gas chimneys. In order to avoid problems in sealing the collection tray is frequently welded or laminated into the column.
